It was so exciting to meet all of the new mums & their bubs starting solids at the Baby Show this weekend.

Butternut Baby ~ Pumpkin Baby Food

Butternut Baby

Pumpkin or butternut is a perfect first food for baby that’s easily pureed and full of rich flavours and bright colour. It’s also high in fibre, beta-carotene, protein and potassium. Combined with quinoa enriched baby cereal you also get the goodness essential amino acids, magnesium, iron and vitamin B-6.

Here’s how we made ours:
1 cup of peeled and chopped butternut or pumpkin
Babynat First Flavour Organic Infant Cereal

Boil, steam or bake pumpkin until tender. Mash and whip with a fork until creamy and smooth, using a little of the reserved cooking water if needed. Prepare baby cereal with breast milk or water as per package instructions and then stir in approximately 2 tablespoons of the prepared cereal into pumpkin mixture. Delicious!

Great article! I totally believe that babies should eat what their parents are eating, and be introduced to those foods during the process of becoming a more experienced eater. Not only does this prevent fussy eaters, but babies truly LOVE flavour and exploring different textures from a wide variety of food as their palettes develop.

Banana & Mango

Today I froze some fresh, pureed banana and mango for a photo shoot.

These nutritious fruit cubes will be fabulous in our smoothies straight from the freezer or totally yummy when warmed & stirred into our morning oats :)

There are endless ideas for your frozen fruit cubes, in addition to baby food of course.

So many Mums I know (myself included) have been known to sneak their baby's homemade fruit cubes into their smoothies or stash them away for a cocktail party !

Where have all the cubes gone? Frozen mango daquiri anyone?
